The Move-D device is a lightweight, easy-to-wear, portable and comfortable orthosis designed to minimize tremors in the dominant upper extremity for patients with movement disorders.
Inspired to improve the quality for patients with upper extremity tremors, Innovation Lab and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) partnered with University of California, Irvine to develop Move-D.
Move-D is a simple and elegant mechanical elbow brace that stabilizes tremors in the dominant upper extremity to improve the performance of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) for pediatric and adult patients with movement disorders such as Essential Tremor, Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, and Parkinson’s Disease.
The Move-D device is lightweight, easy-to-wear, portable, comfortable, and adjustable as a patient grows.

Out of the 15 semi-finalists who participated in the 10th Annual “Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids!” competition hosted by Children’s National Hospital, National Capital Consortium for Pediatric Device Innovation, and MedTech Innovator, Move-D was chosen as one of five finalists to participate in the prestigious MedTech Innovator 2022 Pediatric Accelerator. The Move-D team will have the opportunity to compete for additional grant funding as well. Over 130 applications were submitted for the “Make Your Medical Device Pitch for Kids!” competition. MedTech Innovator is the largest accelerator for medical technology in the world.
“Dylan got involved with Move-D (named after him – ‘Move Dylan’ (we call him D)) because he was the patient who Dr. Taraman nominated to be involved with the UCI Bio Medical Engineer students to create their final project. Dylan met at UCI and various places with the students monthly starting with testing and building the brace from its basic form. The students entered a contest of innovations and won. From there, Innovation Lab picked up the brace and here we are today.”

Ms. Moss graduated from Cal State San Marcos in 1995 with a Bachelor’s in Sociology. She received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 1998.
Ms. Moss is an experienced pediatric occupational therapist with 23 years of early intervention, outpatient clinic and school-based expertise. Using a family-centered approach, Ms. Moss provides solution-based therapy addressing the development of children’s physical, cognitive, social/emotional, and sensory processing skills, which allows the child to succeed and function at their highest ability. Along with being an integral part of the Beach Kids Therapy Center interdisciplinary team, Ms. Moss enjoys the creative side of designing medical devices (such as the AWBAT biosynthetic glove and the Move-D tremor reducing brace) and adapting equipment to enhance her client’s functional skills as well as, improve their quality of life.
In 2009, Ms. Moss was the lead inventor of the AWBAT Glove, a biosynthetic glove for hand burn management, which provides an almost perfect anatomical fit for the hand, reducing operating room time and general anesthesia. A hydrophilic/hygroscopic moist, but not wet, wound healing environment which enhances healing.
Former Division Chief of Pediatric Neurology & Medical Informaticist at Children’s Health of Orange County (CHOC). Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at University of California – Irvine, and Affiliate Professor at Chapman University Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering. Chief Executive Officer at Cognoa, Inc. which is using Artificial Intelligence to diagnose & treat neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioral disorders early to help children reach the fullest potential. Innovator, inventor, and advisor of Medtech achieving FDA breakthrough designation x3 and de novo market authorization for first of its kind autism spectrum disorders diagnostic aid. Active in the community as President of the American Academy of Pediatrics – Orange County Chapter, Advisory Board Member of the Irvine Unified School District, and volunteering with Girl Scouts of America. Developed Concussion Program at CHOC and presented nationally on traumatic brain injury. Highly skilled in Healthcare Information Technology and chair the Health Information Management Committee at CHOC. Magna Cum Laude undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from University of Michigan, M.D. from Wayne State University, residency and fellowship training at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and continued professional development courses at the University of California, Irvine – The Paul Merage School of Business.
I got involved with Move-D as a senior biomedical engineer student in University of California, Irvine. I was part of a team of student engineers who start the project that would become MOVE-D. We were inspired by Dylan’s video where he asked our senior class to take on the challenge of designing a medical device that will help his tremors. We were inspired by his message and took on the challenge. My team and I spent out senior year planning and prototyping the Move-D brace. I also had the privilege of helping Innovation Lab with the clinical trials after graduation. I hope to see the Move-D brace help out more people like Dylan.
